We Ride North…

Friday, March 19th

On our way to our closing for a 73 acre parcel of land – Upstate.

I don’t even know the address – realization hits – we have no address, there has never been mail delivered! I’m getting nauseous typing on this laptop in the car while the HubBear just finished with 2 conference calls and the Kteen is open mouthed sleeping in the back seat. We had an ‘Oh S***’ moment when we realized she was late logging in her last class of the day (ELA) after we hurriedly packed the car to drive several hours north. We are now currently wondering whether she fell asleep during class or after. I’m so tempted to “insert pic” – but that wouldn’t be kind; and more importantly, that gives her an excuse to do that to me!

We received word from our lawyer yesterday on the ‘numbers’ needed for closing. To get it less than 24 hrs from the scheduled time, 9 minutes after banks close… instant irritation would come to mind to describe our first reaction since the HubBear has periodically inquired, and the realtor has also been pushing for information. Our closing requirements consisted of 1 certified check, but the sellers “preferred” a wire transfer… lots of thoughts on that, but I’ll just bring it down to first world expectancy considering the affluent background. I think our lawyer felt a little of our irritation as her response to our inquiry regarding the late notice was slightly defensive. Apparently the bank for our loan was late in giving her the numbers and then so on. We’ll give more insight into this later as it didn’t affect us too much, it only required the HubBear to wait outside the bank the next morning to get that certified check.  Keep in mind – it is the pandemic, and we didn’t know if our local bank would let us in without an appointment.

And now, we are trundling along 87 on cruise control, keeping an eye out for State Troopers… and they are definitely ‘out’ today.
